ABOUT AXON

Axon Clinical Research is a multispecialty network of independently owned clinical research sites operating across the United States and Africa. We were founded to address a critical gap in clinical trial diversity: the underrepresentation of both Black and Hispanic/Latino patient populations, as well as physicians serving as Principal Investigators (PIs).

Although Hispanic/Latino individuals represent roughly 19% of the U.S. population (2020 Census) and Black Americans account for about 13%, both groups have historically participated in clinical trials at rates far below their proportion of the population. This underrepresentation contributes to health disparities and limits the depth of Real-World Evidence needed to develop inclusive medical innovations. Compounding the issue, less than 1% of minority physicians have traditionally overseen clinical studies—further widening gaps in health equity.

By connecting underrepresented communities with ethically grounded, GCP-compliant research opportunities and developing a new generation of AI-driven, data-savvy PIs, Axon seeks to transform patient recruitment and site feasibility practices. Through a focus on decentralized clinical trials, adaptive trial design, and robust PI training, our mission is to build trust, drive patient engagement, and advance pharmacovigilance across diverse communities. Ultimately, we strive to reshape how biotech and pharma sponsors conduct clinical operations—ensuring that groundbreaking therapies reach those who need them most.

OUR MISSION

At Axon, our mission is to break down barriers in clinical research by bringing clinical trials directly into physicians’ offices—making research as a care option within established physician practices. This integrated approach fosters efficiency and cost-effectiveness: patients gain timely access to innovative treatments, physicians avoid the burden of building and managing in-house clinical research infrastructure, and sponsors/pharmaceutical companies can bring new therapies to market faster while reaching diverse patient populations. Ultimately, we strive to advance health equity and ensure that medical innovations benefit every community.
